The house

A secluded home for the whole family — and then some.

Welcome to Blue Star Hideaway. The five-bedroom house sits on a wooded lot a few miles south of downtown South Haven. It works for families, friends, and multi-generation groups: a heated saltwater pool, a year-round hot tub, a three-season room, and a basement game room large enough for a rainy Saturday.

You're under four miles from downtown, about a mile from a public Lake Michigan beach, and close to Van Buren State Park. The lot is quiet and private. The house is built for a premium stay — the hosts' motto is “we've thought of everything.”

The area

Secluded, and still close to everything in South Haven.

A wooded lot a few miles south of downtown. About a five-minute drive to town or the lake. The exact address goes out after you book — the city is enough until then.

Lake Michigan

A public beach is about a mile away — rocky, and an easy drive with the wagon and chairs we leave for you. The larger sandy South Beach is a few miles off. Van Buren State Park, just south of the house, has dunes and another stretch of shoreline.

Downtown South Haven

Five minutes to the harbor, the pier, and the lighthouse at sunset. Taste for small plates and cocktails, Three Blondes Brewery, Admiral Jack’s on the waterfront, Venezia, and Maria’s Taste of Italy.

Blueberries & the trail

South Haven is the Blueberry Capital. One of Southwest Michigan’s most popular u-pick farms is essentially across the street. The Van Buren Trail starts just down the road and runs into town — rent bikes at Rock ’n’ Road Cycle or Scooter Joe’s.

If the weather turns

The Michigan Maritime Museum, Rocket Arcade, Lakeside Social bowling, and the historic Michigan Theater. St. Joseph makes an easy day trip for boating and another lakefront.

Wineries nearby

The Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail is an easy afternoon from the house — Fenn Valley, Cogdal, and Lemon Creek among them. Confirm hours and distance before you go.
